Congmen hold dharna, begin hunger
strike for Modi's ouster

Stepping up its campaign to oust Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Congress activists led by party president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday staged a dharna at Rajghat in New Delhi and began a relay hunger strike in front of Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Ashram.

Kicking off the second phase of a nationwide campaign against Modi, Sonia Gandhi joined senior party leaders Kamal Nath, Buta Singh, Shivraj Patil, Moti Lal Vora, R K Dhawan and Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit in thedharna.

In Gujarat, where four persons were killed in fresh violence on Tuesday, party leaders started a 36-day 'Narendra Modi hatao campaign' with relay fasts in all district and taluka headquarters of Gujarat.

A group of senior Congress leaders, including AICC general secretary Mahavir Prasad, Gujarat party chief Amarsinh Chaudhary and Rajasthan PCC President Girija Vyas joined a relay fast near Sabarmati Ashram.

The 36-day agitation would conclude on May 21, the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi.
