Pant to come face to face with
Musharraf at SAARC meet

K J M Verma in Islamabad

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and India's point man on Kashmir K C Pant would come face to face this weekend at the SAARC Ministerial Conference on Poverty Alleviation in Islamabad.

Officials at the Indian high commission and Pakistan foreign office said no bilateral meetings have been fixed during Pant's visit and also firmly ruled out any chance of an "ice-breaking" event that could lead to the two countries to restart the stalled dialogue.

Pant, who will attend the conference in his capacity as chairman of the Planning Commission, would lead a three-member delegation.

The conference is being attended by top finance ministry officials of the seven-member SAARC grouping.
