MCC guns down 13 cops in Jharkhand

Maoist Communist Centre guerrillas on Wednesday afternoon gunned down 13 Jharkhand Armed Police jawans in Topchanchi block police headquarters in Dhanbad district.

Five other jawans were seriously injured in the attack.

Official sources said the extremists looted firearms and killed the jawans with the same weapons.

They said around 150 to 200 extremists of the banned outfit suddenly raided the block headquarters, attacking it with country made bombs and small arms fire.

The sources added the police force present in the headquarters put up stiff resistance engaging the militants in an encounter for almost three hours.

The injured jawans have been shifted to the hospital, and senior police officials have rushed to the spot. The borders of the state have also been sealed in a bid to nab the extremists.
