Heavy firing by Pakistani rangers along IB, LoC

Pakistani rangers resorted to heavy firing along the International Border and Line of Control in Jammu sector on Wednesday night, official sources said on Thursday.

Two women were injured in the unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops on 46 different civilian and defence areas in RS Pura, Hiranagar, Samba and Akhnoor areas along the IB in Jammu frontier and five huts of Gujjars (nomads) were destroyed in the firing along LoC in Akhnoor area, they said.

The Border Security Force returned fire and the exchange of fire continued intermittently till Thursday afternoon, they said.

Exchange of fire and mortar shelling was also reported from Krishna Gati, Bhimber Gali, Ghambir, Mendhar, Laam, Nou Hera, Bhawani and Sunderbani areas of Rajouri and Poonch sectors, they said, adding there was no loss of life or damage to property.
