Congress, TMC reach
accord with AIADMK

The Tamil Maanila Congress and Congress Friday night reached an understanding with the AIADMK on an electoral alliance in Tamil Nadu, TMC official spokesman B S Gnanadesikan said in Madras.

He told newsmen that details of the agreement would be disclosed to the press by TMC President G K Moopanar on Saturday.

Earlier, seeking to break the logjam over the issue of an alliance for the assembly elections, Moopanar held talks with AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha.

After the nearly 30-minute meeting, both had refused to disclose what transpired.

Asked whether an agreement had been reached, Jayalalitha told mediapersons, ''I have no comments to make''.

She said she would meet the press on Saturday if she had anything to say.

After Moopanar left Jayalalitha's residence, leaders of the Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India-Marxists and Janata Dal-S were called in for seat-sharing talks.
