Over 300,000 people came out on the streets on Friday night defying curfew to celebrate the withdrawal of the Naga ceasefire from Manipur.
Reports said people in thousands also turned out in various districts to hail the amendment of the truce.
But the celebrations were muted for some.
"Why have they taken so long to understand the age old blood relations between hill and valley people?" questioned a senior Naga leader from Ngariyan hill area.
What is there to celebrate when we have lost 17 precious lives 'unnecessarily' because of the 'ill-matured and wild decision' of Centre and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (I-M), said senior political analyst and president of Manipur state Janata Party, Loitongbam Iboyaima Singh.
Iboyaima Singh said the central government had 'mistaken' what he termed 'the patriotic feelings' of Manipuris as politically motivated.
Singh also added that there is nothing to celebrate when our brothers and sisters were killed while protesting to protect our own 'motherland'.
