India has a role in Afghanistan: Abdullah Abdullah

Afghanistan interim government Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah on Thursday said Kabul would improve relations with Pakistan and envisaged a role for India in the reconstruction of the war-ravaged country.

"India is a great country in the region and has a role to play in the reconstruction of Afghanistan," Abdullah told the Star News channel.

"We (Afghanistan) always had good relations with India and will continue to do so, as it is vital for the stability of the region," Abdullah added.

On relations of the interim government with Pakistan, he said, "We will have to improve relations with Pakistan."

"Our relations with them (Pakistan) were strained because of their previous foreign policy, especially their support to the Taliban, Abdullah added.
