Tamil Nadu hooch toll rises to 46

The toll in the hooch tragedy near Panrutti in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district rose to 46 on Saturday morning with ten more persons falling prey to the killer brew, hospital sources said.

They said that the number of persons who have lost their vision has risen to 29.

Besides, 120 persons were still under treatment in the government hospital at the district headquarters, where many were lying in the verandah for want of space, they said.

Meanwhile, a team of doctors, including eye surgeons, has reached Panrutti from Madras, to provide medical relief.
