Raipur to be the capital of ChhattisgarhOur correspondent in Bhopal Raipur will be the new capital of Chattisgarh and the high court of the new state will function out of Bilaspur. This was decided at an all-party meeting in Bhopal on Wednesday. The meeting was convened by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh and was attended by members of Parliament and legislators from the Chhattisgarh region. All five Rajya Sabha members, 11 Lok Sabha members and 90 legislators attended the meeting. The 90 legislators, who represent 16 districts of the new state, would elect their chief minister once the capital was formally recognised. The Congress, which has 48 legislators, is set to form the government.
