Another officer to assist in Rajan extradition case

Another police officer will leave for Bangkok on Monday to assist the three-member Bombay police team in the investigations into the shootout of September 15 in which underworld don Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje alias Chhota Rajan was fatally injured.

This was announced by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and state Home Minister Chhagan Bhujbal in Bombay on Friday.

He said joint police commissioner Shivanandan is being deputed to find out the hurdles coming in the way of extradition of Chhota Rajan from Thailand and guide the three-member police team in Bangkok in the investigations.

The team has already submitted all relevant documents of Rajan's crime record in Bombay and the papers are being translated into Thai language, Bhujbal said.

Earlier, this month the Indian government had revoked Rajan's passport.
