Centre asks Bombay cops for
more papers on Rajan: PTI

"The police have been asked for more documents," a spokesman of the external affairs ministry said in New Delhi.

"Documents for Rajan's extradition from Thailand have been received by the government from the Bombay police on October 9. They are being examined from the legal and other points of view," he said.

In Bombay, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said the state government has suggested that the Centre impounds Rajan's passport to prevent him from leaving Thailand and also to help in his deportation to India.

''We have suggested to the Centre that Rajan's passport be confiscated through the Indian high commission in Bangkok so that the gangster can be brought to India,'' Bhujbal, who also holds the home portfolio, told mediapersons.

Once Rajan's passport is seized, he will be rendered 'stateless', paving the way for his deportation to India, Bhujbal said.
