Soren says JMM-S ready to quit NDA

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-Soren president Shibu Soren has said that his party was ready to quit the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance if the coalition failed to recognise the party's role in the formation of Jharkhand but would prefer to maintain a 'wait and watch policy' for now.

"If the NDA fails to recognise the sacrifices of JMM-S during the last 50 years for realising the dream of Jharkhand, I am ready to sit in the opposition. However, it is too premature at this juncture, we are waiting for a declaration by the alliance in this connection," he said reiterating his claim to the chief ministership of the new state.

Talking to reporters in Ranchi on Tuesday, Soren said he would not change his stand if he was offered the post of the deputy chief minister.

Asked about BJP's claim for the post, he quipped, "It is what BJP men say, not NDA."
