Jihad council rejects cease-fire offer: PTI

It questioned the utility of the cease-fire only for the month of Ramzan.

"What is the point of the cease-fire? They stop killing for one month and then start killing again," said UJC chairman Syed Salahuddin, who is also supreme commander of The predominantly Kashmiri militant outfit, the Hizbul Mujahideen.

In a statement as chairman of the Hizb, Salahuddin had said, "If this is a cease-fire for the sake of a cease-fire then it has no value, but if it is aimed at solving the problem then India will have to take more steps."

He said first India should accept the "disputed" status of Kashmir and make a it clear it was ready for tripartite talks. "If this is the case then we can respond positively... otherwise all we can say is that this cease-fire is an excuse to kill time."
