JMM plans victory/protest rally on Nov 15

Soroor Ahmed in Patna

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has asked its supporters to turn up in thousands in Ranchi on November 15.

They have been told to come armed with the traditional weapon of a bow and arrow, which is the party's election symbol.

Depending on whether Shibu Soren becomes the state's first chief minister or not, it will a victory/protest rally.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the JMM, has again threatened to ransack Lenin Hall, which will house the Jharkhand assembly. It alleged that millions of rupees have been siphoned in the name of sprucing up the building.

Morcha activists last week damaged windowpanes, arguing that if Audrey Hall was serving the purpose during the Jharkhand Area Autonomous Council days, there was no need to spend crores on another building.

The JMM organised a massive rally in Ranchi on October 22 in a show of strength. It has been holding demonstrations and rallies in South Bihar to build up pressure to make Soren chief minister.

Apart from the threat of a rally by the JMM, the police and administration are keeping a strict vigil as they expect attacks from the dreaded Maoist Communist Centre on November 15. Seven more companies of central paramilitary forces have been sent to Ranchi.
