HC stays attachment of Jaya's properties in wealth caseThe Madras High court Wednesday stayed the operation of a special court judge's order making absolute the interim attachment of movable properties, particularly vehicles, worth Rs 115.9 million purchased in the name of former Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha and three others in connection with the Rs 666.5 million disproportionate wealth case against her. Justice Akbar Basha Kadhri granted the interim stay on an appeal filed by Jayalalitha, her close aide Sasikala Natarajan, Sasikala's relative Elavarasi and Elavarasi's minor son Vivek seeking to set aside the order. The judge granted the stay on the condition that the petitioners execute a bond for Rs 5 million with one surety for a like sum to the satisfaction of the trial court. UNI
