Bombay mill to donate cloth for rath yatraBhibuti Mishra in Bhubaneshwar This year, a Bombay-based textile mill will supply cloth to Lord Jagannath free, for the rath yatra on July 3. Massive chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra will be decked with cloth manufactured by Centurion Mills, instead of Orissa Textile Mills. For 15 years, OTM has been supplying cloth to the Sri Jagannath Temple administration. The cloth required is of extra width (137cm), which only OTM arranged for. However, the state-owned mill has not yet recovered from last year's super cyclone. Centurion Mill will supply the cloth free as it is for religious purposes. A Baroda-based textile group has also decided to pitch in. Lord Jagannath's 45 feet high Nandighosh chariot is decked with red and yellow cloth; Lord Balabhadra's 44 feet chariot Taladhwaja is covered with red and green cloth, while Goddess Subhadra's 43 feet Darpadalana chariot is decked with red and black cloth. The three chariots need a total of 1220 metres of cloth. SEE ALSO
