E-Mail this report to a friend

There were prospects of a hung assembly in Manipur with the three major fronts remaining far behind the majority mark as results of 46 out of the total 60 seats in the Manipur assembly were declared.

Ahead in the race was the ruling United Front led by Manipur State Congress Party, which secured a total of 19 seats followed by the Secular Democratic Front headed by the Congress winning 13 seats.

While Manipur Democratic Alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed a sizeable share of cake with eight seats, the Nationalist Congress Party, performed remarkably well on its own bagging four seats and the Rashtriya Janata Dal and independent got one each.

Among those who won were Chief Minister W Nipamacha Singh from Wangoi constituency, Deputy Chief Minister L Chandramani Singh from Patsoi, minister H Bidur Singh from Keirao, Industry Minister Y Jiten from Oinam, Finance Minister H Loken Singh, former chief ministers Rishang Keishing (Congress) and R K Dorendra Singh (BJP), former speaker H Borobabu Singh (BJP), Congress Legislature Party leader Radhabinod Koijam and BJP state president H Bhubon Singh.
