Curfew continues in Ranchi

Our correspondent in Ranchi

Curfew continued in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, on Saturday morning, even as the Army and personnel of the Rapid Action Force and Central Reserve Police Force patrolled the town.

This is the second day of curfew, which was imposed following tension after the killing of three people in police firing on Thursday.

The police had fired at the crowd that was protesting after a police jeep ran over a girl after Eid prayers.

The Jharkhand Government has announced that it will donate Rs 2 lakh each to the family of the deceased who died in police firing.

Jharkhand Law Minister Ramji Lal Sarda will meet family members of the deceased and hand them a cheque.

The town wore a deserted look as shoot-at-sight orders were issued.
