Film producer Rizvi remanded to police custody

Justice A P Bangale of the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act remanded Rizvi to police custody till December 27.

Special public prosecutor Rohini Salian told the court that the crimes were heinous and hence the accused booked under the provisions of the MCOC Act of 1999 after prior permission from competent authority and requested that he be remanded to police custody.

Ms Salian also handed over a sealed envelope to the judge, which contained transcripts of telephonic conversations between Rizvi and underworld don Chhota Shakeel. She informed the court that the duo had spoken to each other at least for ten times in recent past.

Rizvi, whose movie Chori Chori Chupke Chupke is awaiting release, was produced before the court under tight security. Advocate Satish Maneshinde appeared on behalf of Rizvi.
