Strike paralyses life in TripuraLife was crippled in Tripura today following a state-wide bandh called separately by the ruling and opposition parties to protest against Sunday's militant attack which claimed 18 lives in the state. No untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the state. Vehicles remained off the roads and shops and business establishments downed their shutters. Educational institutions, government and semi-government offices, banks and other institutions remained closed. However, Indian Airlines operated its scheduled flights on the Agartala-Calcutta-Agartala route. The state police made arrangements to transport the passengers. The police said security had been beefed up and the police stations, camps and para-military personnel asked to maintain strict vigil. UNI |
