Pawar arrives in Madras for talks with JayaSenior Congress leader Sharad Pawar arrived in Madras today to hold preliminary talks with AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalitha on the question of forging an electoral alliance for the general election. He told newspersons at the airport that his visit was to assess the political situation in Tamil Nadu. To a question whether he would meet Tamil Maanila Congress president G K Moopanar, he said he would meet several leaders, but was not sure whether he would meet the TMC leader. The state Congress committee has not been kept informed of Pawar's meeting with Jayalalitha, which appears to have been directly arranged by the Congress high command. UNI
