Wadhwa Commission officials visit Baripada

Top officials of the Wadhwa Commission, instituted by the Union government to inquire into the killings of Australian missionary Graham Stewart Staines and his two minor sons by some miscreants at Manoharpur village in Keonjhar district on January 22, visited Baripada yesterday.

Secretary to the commission D G R Patnaik, visited the cemeteries, went around the leprosy home run by the Staines located on the outskirts of the town and held a brief discussion with Gladys Stewart Staines, widow of Graham Staines.

Senior counsel and senior advocate to the chairman of the commission Gopal Subramaniam, assistant counsels to the commission Dayan Krishnanan and Frinda Grover accompanied Patnaik.

The central government, under the Commission of Inquiry Act 1952, constituted the commission under Justice D P Wadhwa, a sitting judge of the Supreme Court, to inquire into the incident.
