India, Pakistan swap list of N-installations

E-Mail this report to a friend

India and Pakistan yesterday exchanged lists of their nuclear installations and facilities covered under the 1998 India-Pakistan agreement on the prohibition of attack against nuclear installation and facilities.

The exchanging of the lists were held in New Delhi and Islamabad simultaneously. This is the eighth consecutive year that the two countries exchanged such lists.

The lists are being swapped ever year under an accord signed in 1988 and ratified in 1991 as part of confidence-building measures.

Under the agreement, the two countries are to inform each other on January 1 every year of the nuclear installations and facilities to be covered by the agreement.

The first such exchange of lists took place on January 1, 1992, an external affairs ministry official said.
