TMC, Dalit party vie for Thanjavur seatThe Tamil Maanila Congress, leading the third front in Tamil Nadu, today re-nominated two more former MPs while releasing the second list of its candidates for four seats for the coming Lok Sabha elections in the state. Significantly, Thanjavur, for which Puthiya Tamizhagam, the rebel constituent of the front, had announced its candidate this morning, figured in the list released by TMC treasurer V Sudharsanam. The other seats are: Sivakasi, Karur and Salem. The TMC, while renominating M Natarajan and R Devadoss from Karur and Salem respectively, has fielded A Gunasekaran, owner of a leading fire cracker unit in Sivakasi and P L A Chidambaram, a fleet owner in Thanjavur. Sudharsanam refused to comment on the action of PT president and Dalit leader Dr K Krishnasamy in unilaterally announcing his list of candidates for ten constituencies. He said TMC president G K Moopanar would release the party manifesto tomorrow. UNI
