50 pilgrims killed as bus falls into ditch in BiharAt least fifty people were feared drowned when a bus carrying pilgrims fell from a bridge into a flood water-filled ditch on Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi road in Bihar's Sitamarhi district last night. The police said today that 25 bodies had been fished out so far. The bus, on its way to Sultanganj from Sitamarhi, fell from the Bedaul bridge into the ditch filled with flood water from the Bagmati river. The police said ten of the victims had been rushed to the Sri Krishna medical college hospital at Muzaffarpur. Sources said the accident occurred when the driver lost control of the bus. The pilgrims were going to Sultanganj to fetch the holy water from the Ganga for offering at the Shiva temple in Deoghar. Senior officials have rushed to the spot to carry out relief and rescue operation, and divers had been pressed into service to fish out the bodies, the police added. UNI
