Orissa heat wave claims 19The Orissa heat wave has so far claimed 19 lives in various parts of the state. According to information reaching the state headquarters in Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal district topped the casualty list with four deaths followed by Jajapur with three reported deaths. Sources said while the districts of Anugul, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur reported two casualties each, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Bhadrakh, Kendrapara and Nayagarha reported one each. The local meteorological office predicted a dry spell for the next two days. But it said there was no need to panic as the temperature now prevailing in various parts of the state was just a degree or two above the normal and could not be termed as 'a heat wave condition'.
