Congress whip in Bihar seeks CBI probe into Senari massacre

E-Mail this report to a friend

Congress chief whip in the Bihar legislative council Mahachandra Prasad Singh today demanded a CBI probe into last month's Senari massacre in Jehanabad district to unravel the truth behind the gruesome incident.

After visiting Senari village, where 34 people were <../mar/19bihar.htm>butchered by the outlawed Maoist Communist Centre activists, he told newsmen that only an impartial inquiry could expose what he called the "dubious" role of police and the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal in the incident.

He said the police version that they were engaged in warding off another attack on nearby Saharsa police picket was completely false. The police could not arrest any named person in the massacre so far, he said, and claimed that the MCC members had taken shelter in the nearby villages and that some leaders of the ruling RJD were present in the locality two days before the unfortunate incident.

Singh, who paid the first visit to the spot from his party, claimed that the ruling party had possibly some idea about the incident. He said there was no ill-will for his party in the area and alleged that it was the game plan of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samata Party to defame the Congress in public.

He also said he would soon meet AICC president Sonia Gandhi to apprise her of the details on the massacre and the state government's alleged unwillingness to tackle the menace of extremism.
