One killed in Kargil as Pakistan resumes firingA civilian was killed and three others were injured in heavy artillery and mortar shelling by Pakistani troops in Poonch and Kargil sectors. In other militancy-related incidents, two foreign militants and a jawan were among the five killed in Kashmir in the past 24 hours. An official spokesman said Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked shelling in Poonch and Kargil on Friday evening. Some of the shells exploded in residential areas, injuring two persons each at both places. One of them later died at the Kargil hospital. The spokesman said two unidentified bodies were recovered from Floor Chaki village on Friday evening. They had been hanged to death. At Madna village, a security personnel was killed and three others were injured when militants blew up their vehicle with a powerful improvised explosive device. But security forces averted two tragedies when they defused two explosive devices at Sanai village. Government forces killed two foreign militants during a fierce clash in the Bonjawa forests on Friday evening. One AK-56 rifle, two magazines, 60 rounds, a wireless set, and three grenades were recovered. Forces captured five militants in the valley during overnight operations. UNI
