Army C-o-S rebuts DGP's claim on ISI hand in Coimbatore blastsDespite claims to the contrary by the Tamil Nadu police, Lt General A S Khanna, chief of staff, Southern Command, today indicated that Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence was involved in the February 14 serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore which claimed more than 60 lives. While state Director General of Police F C Sharma ruled out the ISI's involvement in the blasts, General Khanna said the blasts showed that the ISI was fast spreading its tentacles in the southern states. The two were addressing the civil military liaison conference held at the state secretariat in Madras after a gap of three years. DGP Sharma said investigations into the bomb blasts cases were in the closing stage and there was no evidence to show the ISI's involvement in the blasts. However, General Khanna said the blasts and the communal clashes in Hyderabad recently were indicators of growing ISI influence in the southern states. UNI
