Former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav could not be produced before the designated special CBI court in Patna today in the Rs 9.5 billion fodder scam as he reported sick.

Others who could not be produced in the court from the Beur jail on medical grounds included former Union minister C P Verma, RJD legislator R K Rana, former regional animal husbandry director S B Sinha and IAS officer Sajal Chakraborty.

However, former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra and 12 others, including former state animal husbandry minister Vidysagar Nishad, were produced before the court.

Special CBI judge S K Lal directed the jail authorities to produce them before the court again on December 7 in the case.

The case related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 370 million from the Chaibasa treasury. All the accused, other than Sajal Chakraborty, were on bail in RC 20 (a)/96.

The accused produced before the court in the case have been in jail since October 28 in the fodder scam case RC 64 (a)/96, which related to illegal withdrawal of about Rs 9.7 million from the Deoghar treasury.

Laloo Yadav was put on traction following some pain in his muscle and hence he could not be produced in the court. He is lodged in the Bihar Military Police camp.
