Jaya charges DMK with attacks on party cadresAll India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham general secretary J Jayalalitha today reiterated her party's charge that ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam men were attacking AIADMK speakers and killing party cadres. In a statement in Madras, Jayalalitha listed various instances of murder of her party cadres and functionaries in the last two years since the DMK came to power and warned that time would give a fitting reply to the "anarchic and unjust acts" of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. She, however, appealed to party cadres to maintain peace. It was only under the Karunanidhi regime that freedom of speech was being curtailed and opposition party speakers were being attacked, she charged. Most of the attacks and murders took place under the eyes of the police, whose hands were tied by the administration, she claimed. Jayalalitha urged the police to take proper action against the murders and attacks by the ruling party men at least now. UNI |
