Police recover another bomb

The Coimbatore police recovered another bomb from a sugarcane field adjoining Saramedu in the Karumbukadai area late Monday evening. It was later defused by a bomb disposal squad.

Combing operations in and around the city are continuing without any letup, police said.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi released Rs 50 million as interim relief to those who lost their property in the February 14 serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore.

An official release in Madras said the chief minister had decided to provide immediate relief to the victims as it would take a minimum of three months for the Gokulakrishnan Commission to assess the loss and recommend relief. The amount given now would be deducted when the final relief was awarded.

The government had already released Rs 15 million to the blast victims.
