Congress to hold protest rally against attack on Christians

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Congress will organise a rally in Gandhinagar next week to protest against attacks on minorities in general and Christians in particular.

After the rally, the party will submit a memorandum to Gujarat Governor Anshuman Singh urging him to dismiss the Keshubhai Patel government which had ''failed in safeguarding the interests of the minorities''.

This was stated by Gujarat Congress unit president C D Patel and leader of the opposition Amarsinh Chaudhary while addressing a peace meeting organised by the Congress and the Sevadal at the Ahwa checkpost yesterday.

The Congress was not allowed to take out its proposed rally by the district administration yesterday due to Section 144 which was clamped in the trouble-torn district.

After an altercation Patel and Chaudhary had with district Collector Bharat Joshi, at Waghai, the gateway of Dangs district, the Congress leaders were allowed to go till the Ahwa checkpost.
