Kalyan's claim shocks UP BJP chiefBhartiya Janata Party Uttar Pradesh unit president Rajnath Singh has asserted that there would be no mid-term elections in the state and that the BJP-led government in the state would complete its full term. Addressing the media, Singh expressed his surprise on the reported statement of Chief Minister Kalyan Singh that ''any change of leadership in UP will mean mid-term elections in the state. ''I don't know what has provoked the chief minister to come out with such a statement,'' Rajnath Singh said and added that he would discuss the matter with Kalyan Singh. Asked whether Kalyan Singh would continue as chief minister of the state, the BJP state unit chief said Singh is ''very much the chief minister of the state.'' When reporters insisted on a specific reply, Rajnath Singh said he would not open his mouth at the moment. Mid-term elections would not be held in the state at any cost, he added. He said there was no groupism in the party and whoever encourages groupism would not survive for long, he asserted. UNI
