ULFA threatens to kill AGP leaders from New Year

E-Mail this report to a friend

The banned United Liberation Front of Asom has threatened to target Asom Gana Parishad leaders from January 1 if the 'mysterious killings' of its sympathisers are not stopped immediately.

The outfit despatched letters to a few AGP leaders of Nagaon district, as also its Superintendent of Police Satya Narayan Singh. Consequently, many leaders are thinking of quitting the party.

A communiqué from the SP said: ''Reliable intelligence reports indicate that the ULFA has decided to take strong offensive action against the leaders of the AGP with effect from January 1. A few attacks on AGP members are likely to take place from that day onwards in Nagaon and other districts.''

The ULFA ultimatum had given a month's deadline to stop the ''mysterious killings.''

The police have assured adequate security, but the AGP leaders are apprehensive.

The bodies of two ULFA sympathisers, killed under mysterious circumstances, were found near Ghograpar in Nalbari district last Tuesday.
