Bihar assembly adjourned

The Bihar legislative assembly was adjourned thrice on Wednesday as it plunged into turmoil over the Opposition's demand for the formation of a separate Jharkhand state.

The House was first adjourned till noon immediately after question hour began as the Opposition members, barring the Communist Party of India-Marxist, stormed into the well, displaying placards and shouting slogans.

They started thumping the reporter's table. Some even climbed atop. Failing to restore order, Speaker Deo Narayan Yadav adjourned the House till noon.

After it reassembled, similar scenes prevailed. Within minutes, the speaker adjourned the House till 1400 hours.

Unrelenting Opposition members again raked up the issue when the House met after lunch recess, and the Speaker adjourned it till 1630 hours.
