Disciplinary panel to serve show-cause notice on TohraThe five-member Akali Dal disciplinary action committee today decided to serve a show-cause notice on Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Gurucharan Singh Tohra for his ''anti-party'' utterances. The decision was taken at an hour-long meeting of the committee presided over by senior Akali Dal leader Jagdev Singh Talwandi. Briefing the media later, Dal secretary-general Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa said the decision was unanimous. Four of the five members attended the meeting. Gurdev Singh Badal was the only absentee. The meeting decided that Tohra should submit his reply to the committee within the next 15 days. ''If he (Tohra) does not reply within the stipulated period, serious disciplinary action would be initiated against him," Dhindsa said. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had spoken to Tohra to sort out the latter's differences with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. UNI |
