8 more Al Umma activists held under NSA in MadrasEight more activists of the banned Al Umma have been detained under the National Security Act for their complicity in fundamentalist activities aimed at causing loss of life and destruction of public property. Madras city Police Commissioner P Kalimuthu said that Tajudeen alias Abu Mujider, Khalil Basha, Akhtar Basha, Zakir Hussain, Mohammed Bilal, Niyamatullah, Tameem-un- Ansari and Yusuf Hussain were detained under the NSA on the basis of their confessional statement following their arrest in connection with the seizure of explosives recently from Tambaram, Pulianthope and Arumbakkam in the city. With this, the number of Al Umma activists arrested under the NSA has risen to 26. Kalimuthu said Tajudeen also confessed during interrogation that he had procured explosives from Peoples Democratic Party founder Nasser Madani, who was arrested recently in Kochi, and brought to Madras.
