Two more MPs from Tamil Nadu to be made ministers, says JayaAll India Anna DMK general secretary J Jayalalitha says party Lok Sabha member Dindigul Sreenivasan and Rajya Sabha member M S Niraikulathan, besides Pattali Makkal Katchi MP Shanmugam, will be made Union ministers during the next ministerial expansion in the first week of May. Jayalalitha said Prime Minister A B Vajpayee contacted her over the phone to inform her about the impending ministerial expansion. Niraikulathan and Shanmugam would be inducted as ministers of state, she added. With this, the PMK's strength in the Union council of ministers would rise to two while that of the AIADMK to five. Jayalalitha said Vajpayee also said that the ministerial expansion was intended to induct some more BJP members before the Budget session of Parliament slated for May 15. The prime minister, she added, also informed her that AIADMK leader and Union Law Minister M Thambi Durai would hold additional charge of the surface transport ministry. Surface Transport Minister Sedappati Muthaiah resigned on Wednesday after a Madras court framed charges against him and his family in a disproportionate wealth case. UNI
