Like Rock On!!, Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye is about musical aspirations and pursuing unfulfilled dreams.

Directed by debutante director Madhureeta Anand, who has made award-winning documentaries for the BBC and the National Geographic channel, the film stars Randeep Hooda [Images], Raima Sen [Images] and Arbaaz Khan [Images].

Based in Delhi [Images], the movie revolves around a middle class housewife, Maya, who lives her routine life with her husband Vikram and eight-year-old daughter. Her life seems normal until she overhears a conversation between her husband and his carrot-chewing mistress, and that shatters her world.

Her neighbour tries to comfort her, and the conversation veers to an ideal man. That fuels Maya's imagination, and she starts drifting in and out of her daydreams, picturing the perfect man -- Jai -- for her. Jai is an embodiment of every quality that Maya desires in her man, he's her dream man. He is there at every important moment in her life, providing encouragement and love. Through him, Maya finds the strength to pursue and fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a popular singer, something her husband disapproved of.

Jai makes his appearances in various avatars -- sometimes he plays a policeman, sometimes Zorro, and Amitabh Bachchan [Images]. Randeep Hooda takes up this role as a sensual fantasy man with ease, and promise.

The film moves at a steady pace in the first half, which has quite a few sweet and quirky moments. But the second half drags on and on. The interactions, fights and dialogue get repetitive. Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye would have worked better in a 90-minute format.

Raima Sen had played a suppressed, demure wife who blooms later in Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, where her vulnerability shone through. But the same cannot be said of this film. But one cannot blame Raima, the role itself seemed uninspiring.

Arbaaz Khan plays a chauvinistic and adulterous husband very well. 

Shubhi Mehta of Chak De! India fame, make an appearance in this film as Reena, a nice girl in vampish outfits.

Music by Lalit Pandit and Siddharath Coutto is the highlight of this film. Most of the songs are very hummable. Pehle Toh Meri Inn Ankhon by Shreya Ghoshal [Images] deserves special mention, as does Zindagi Me Nayi Bat Hone Ko by Aishwarya [Images]. 

But the film, on the whole, does not have much to offer.
