In Tabu [Images] Bhalobasi, Prosenjit stars as Raj, a non-resident Indian who returns to Kolkata to marry the daughter of his father's old friend. Prosenjit's father, played by Ranjit Mallik, is an immensely rich industrialist who makes eggs for his pampered son's breakfast every morning.
After Raj reaches Swadesh uncle's home, the father of the bride-to-be, everyone in the family welcomes the would-be groom. And Raj stuns everybody by recognising them even though it is the first time he has ever seen them!
Very soon, a romance blooms between the young couple, until disaster strikes. Raj runs over an artist named Satyaki. This accident sequence is shot very badly, and lands up making the tragic scene look comical.

Raj takes Satyaki to a hospital, and then tries to locate his home.
Meanwhile, Satyaki's wife Ananya (Swastika Mukherjee) is pregnant and about to deliver. Raj does not tell them about the accident, and instead rushes Ananya to the hospital. In true filmi style, the child is born and the father dies in adjacent hospital rooms.
Prosenjit, who cannot get over his guilt, repeatedly visits the young widow, though his fianc forbids it. Very soon, Prosenjit finds himself in love with Ananya.
The script is silly in some portions. For example, Raj suggests to Ananya that to get over her sorrow she should go to the roof of her house and watch the sunrise. Ananya does so, and the scene looks out of place.
Song sequences are shot sloppily. In bad movies, one expects the choreography to alleviate things a little. But in this movie, even that is lost. The dance moves are pathetic.
In conclusion, Tabu Bhalobasi is worth a miss.
