Remember Musu musu from Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhi?
The same team -- composers Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani and director Raj Kaushal -- reunite in Shaadi Ka Laddoo. Though this is Kaushal's second directorial venture, the composers have come a long way. They have such hit songs to their credit like the title tracks of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai and Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Chod na re (Kaante) and the soundtrack of Jhankaar Beats.
As the name suggests, Shaadi Ka Laddoo is a spoof on marriage and stars Sanjay Suri, Ashish Chaudhry, Mandira Bedi, Divya Dutta and Nigar Khan.
According to the composers, the music depends on the film's script. So Chall hatt has Sunidhi Chauhan telling men to keep off! Featuring Iranian model Nigar Khan, it is an animated song. The lyrics, Kyon karoo main shaadi, kyon kho doon yeh azaadi..., are interesting and well rendered by Chauhan.
The catchy Bach ke rehna and the slow Woh kaun hai are the other tracks by Chauhan, who is sounding much better and versatile these days.
And it appears as if KK and Shaan had fun recording the song, Biwi ka belan!
Tum kaho toh by Udit Narayan and Mahalaxmi, and Kuch toh ho raha hai by Shaan and Mahalaxmi are the love duets. Thankfully, the compositions are not those factory-produced sugary melodies that instantly make you press the fast forward button.
Those looking for a Musu musu may be disappointed, but you might want to give Shaadi... a chance!
