With Meenaxi, Main Hoon Na and Yuva, it will not be surprising if the music of E Niwas' Bardaasht, with regular filmi tunes, does not take off.
To be fair, the songs are entertaining, and composer Himesh Reshammiya does well after his successful score for Tere Naam.
Take Silsile mulaqaton ke, for instance. There is nothing pathbreaking in the composition, but it works thanks to Udit Narayan's excellent rendition and Sameer's lyrics.
Aap ki khata aap ki bewafayee is perhaps a situational song. Yet the treatment, especially Shaan and Alka Yagnik's rendition, is such that you don't mind giving it a listen.
Janaabe ali sung by Shaan and Kunal Ganjawala, is an interesting dance/club fast paced number with pop, rap and Indian music mix. It is surprising the album does not have a remixed version of the track, which seems to be the trend these days.
Remember Tum mere ho (Tum Mere Ho), Pardesi pardesi (Raja Hindustani) and O priya priya (Dil)? Dil mera dil na mane is evocative of those melodies. Perhaps the composer has borrowed from that era. It has two versions, one by Narayan and the other by Yagnik.
Finally, Na na na na re is an average track with English lyrics thrown in. But it is sung well by Alisha Chinoy and Kunal Ganjawala.
Bardaasht, starring Bobby Deol, Lara Dutta, Ritesh Deshmukh, Tara Sharma and Rahul Dev has average but entertaining music.
