Hrithik, Amisha croon inanitiesSukanya Verma Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage brings back the successful trio of Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai --- Hrithik Roshan, Amisha Patel and music director Rajesh Roshan. That Rajesh Roshan seems to save the best for his brother filmmaker Rakesh Roshan holds true here. Barring the title song, none of the tracks carry the repeat value of KNPH. The album comprises seven tracks and one theme piece.
The energetic playback singing of Sonu Nigam's Hum aise hain jawan lacks the youthful exuberance of Koi kahe (Dil Chahta Hai). Instead it's crammed with inanities like Eeeka meeka tussa. Up next is O re gori. The track starts off in a garba mode only to switch tracks and transform into a hip hop meets classical mishmash. Only to end in a tapori eve-teasing number. Sung efficiently by Udit Narayan and Pamela Jain, O re gori leaves a lot to be desired, thanks to lyrics like Hindaru pindaru teri chalti kamar hai latoo by Dev Kohli. Sad song specialist Kay Kay croons Meri jaan along with Alka Yagnik. This badly rehashed version of David Bowie's Nature boy is a complete no-no from start to finish. Tum toh sagar jaisi draws strong inspiration from Do lafzon ki hai dil ki kahani (The Great Gambler). Plus Abhijeet's overtly sensuous tone is a mismatch for Alka Yagnik's fake coquettishness. Hawaon ne yeh kaha begins with Hrithik Roshan declaring love will conquer all, followed by Udit Narayan doing the same. Musically, of course. This one's strictly average. The same can be said about We wish you a great love life by Alka Yagnik, Kay Kay and Jack. The love theme of AMALL lacks romance and emotion. In a nutshell, a letdown.
Mahesh Manjrekar's Pyaar Kiya Nahin Jaata marks the debut of model turned actor Diwakar Pundir. The film also stars Sonali Bendre and MTV veejay Nikhil Chinappa (Snip). The album has eight tracks and kicks off with the serene and soulful Unke labon pe by Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan and Santripti. Manjrekar regulars Anand Raaj Anand and Milind Sagar have composed the music. Up next is the racy and foot-tapping title song by Anuradha Paudwal, Sonu and Pandit Ajay Pohankar and Vivienne Poccha. Aaja meri bahon mein by Sonu and Saraswati Phukan (who sounds a lot like Chitra) reeks of mediocrity. The original Chitra shows up for the high-pitched romantic ballad Nazaren mil jaati. Tere bin koi bhi pal showcases Atul Kale's impressive rendition. The track in itself is no great shakes, but makes to the above average bracket. The credit goes to Kale. Anuradha Paudwal is terribly off tune in Ho jaata hai ye pyaar. Luckily, Sonali Vajpayee and Sonu Nigam steps in and saves the day with instantly likeable and melodious Kabhi na socha tha maine. The album concludes on a ho-hum note with Sadhna Sargam and Babul Surpiyo failing to make any success of the mundane Raaste yahan. The music of Pyaar Kiya Nahin Jaata is certainly no classic, but it makes for decent hearing.
