Karan, for his part, takes to Sahiba's family like a long-lost friend. And vice versa. All bar her father (Amrish Puri) like him so much they don't even ask him who he is. They trust Sahiba, heir to a huge property, to marry the right person. The new son-in-law sings, dances and flirts with Sahiba's grandmother (Sushma Seth), thus endearing himself to the family more. Eternal grandmother Sushma Seth, with a predilection for white high-heeled shoes, conveniently falls sick when told that her son-in-law wants to leave the house. No one, of course, has still cottoned on to the fact that all is not quite well in Sahiba's world.
Director Raj Kanwar has been vastly influenced by the Chopras and Barjatyas -- witness the ambience of a large, happy, traditional family.
