Bajaj to unveil 'Wave'

Two-wheeler major Bajaj Auto is planning to launch a new 100 cc scooter with digital twin spark ignition engine technology by January 2005, a top executive of the company said on Wednesday.
Named 'Wave', it will be the only scooter in the country to use the DTSi technology, R L Ravichandran, vice president, business development and marketing, said after launching 'Bajaj Discover', a 125 cc model, in Chennai and Pondicherry markets.
Ravichandran said with a view to "excite" consumers, the company was planning to come out with yet another scooter in the next two years.
Bajaj Auto sold 1.5 million two wheelers, mostly motorcycles in 2003 and in this financial year, it hopes to sell 1.7 million units, registering a growth of 15 per cent over the previous year.
Coming with DTSi engine, the new product 'Discover' would be ideal in terms of power, pick-up, comfort, mileage and manoeuvrability, he said, adding it had already been launched in Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. It will be launched in the South during this festive season.
"The response for 'Discover' from these centres has been good so far and we hope to sell totally around 40,000 bikes before the end of this year," he said.
