BSNL launches WLL phones in J&K

In a move to build up the telecommunication network in Jammu and Kashmir, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd would provide telephone connections based on wireless in local loop technology in the state, a company spokesman said. The BSNL would start the service in Jammu in the first phase, he said.
The residents of Bari Brahmna, R S Pura and Akhnoor sub-divisions, who have registered themselves for new telephone connections up to December 31, 2001, March 31, 2002 and March 31, 2004, respectively, may fill up their consent forms afresh in the offices of their concerned sides on any working day on first come first serve basis.
The connections will be released to the applicants subject to availability of BTS (base tranceiver station) signal in the area as well as capacity and also availability of fixed wireless terminal or WLL handsets, he said.
