Infovision Software, the leading medical transcription company, said on Monday that it planned to increase the strength of trained people to around 2000 persons in Mumbai and Kolkata in the next three years.
"We intend to build an IT hub at Kolkata comprising healthcare BPO service like medical transcription, medical billing and coding, claim processing etc and we expect to make this dream come true in the year 2005," Infovision director M Singh Roy told reporters in Kolkata.
Roy said that they have 325 trained medical transcribers and editors out of a total of 550 employees in Mumbai and Kolkata. With rapid expansion plans, the headcount at the Kolkata center alone would increase by 500 by March, 2005.
"We are going to recruit over 1500 persons in Kolkata and Mumbai in the next three years," she said.
She said that going by the current rate, India required about 50,000 medical transcribers, but the availability was only 12,000.
Roy said the medical transcribing business was growing at the rate of 11 per cent compounded annual growth and as per International Data Corporation prediction the ITES market was expected to generate a revenue of $1.20 trillion by 2006.
