Private carrier Jagson Airlines, which primarily operates flights to Himachal Pradesh, has joined the ongoing competition offering low fares on its flights to Jaipur and other cities in Rajasthan from New Delhi.
The lowest fare is Rs 850 for a flight between Delhi and Jaipur, which is competitive with the Shatabdi and Rajdhani fares, its chairman Jagdish P Gupta said.
The airline, which operates Dornier aircraft, intends to acquire two 50-seater Bombardier planes to launch operations between Nagpur and Kolkata. Gupta said the delivery of these two aircraft was expected to be completed in the next six to eight months.
The airline also launched services to Udaipur and Jaisalmer, he said, adding that it was in talks with leading international carriers to bring in passengers to these cities in Rajasthan.
Asked about starting operations on trunk routes as it had acquired scheduled operator status, Gupta said the status was "temporary" and the airline could get it regularised after it acquired two more aircraft to have a minimum fleet of five.
Jagson has been operating from Delhi to Shimla, Kullu and Dharamshala for a few years now.
