Four IT majors launch 'Multiply'

Four leading IT companies - Zenith Computers, Microsoft Corporation India, Intel Corporation and Samsung India Electronics - have jointly launched 'Multiply', a solution for the Small and Medium Enterprise market. "This is, perhaps, the first time four IT leaders have partnered to create a cost effective, multifunctional and complete infrastructure product package," Zenith Computers chairman and managing director Raj Saraf said on Wednesday.
Multiply is a 'plug and play' device, which helps small businesses and enterprises a "hassle free" solution to manage a full-fledged business management framework, he said adding, Zenith is providing the hardware, while the software is from Microsoft, chips from Intel and printer from Samsung.
The package includes one Zenith SMB server with Intel Pentium 4 processor (three GHz with hyper-threading technology), 257 MB RAM, 80 GB Serial ATA HD, CD-writer and 15" monitor, along with three Zenith Pentium personal computers, he said.
The software provided are Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word 2003, Excel 2003 and Outlook 2003, Exchange Server 2003, Windows SharePoint Services, apart from Samsung Mutli-Functional Printer and networking devices including switches and LAN cabling.
The package is being offered at a special 'no profit, no-loss' price, and the companies expect to sell 30,000-40,000 units per year banking on the growth of SMB and SME sector in the country.
